WHAT TO DO FIRST
Call A.J. Desmond & Sons Funeral Directors day or night, at 248-362-2500 or 800-210-7135 (Troy) or 248-549-0100 or 800-294-5668 (Royal Oak). Upon your notification, we take charge. With some basic information we can get everything started. No need to contact a second funeral home - we will do everything for you at the lowest possible cost and in the timeliest manner.
We make all the arrangements for transferring the deceased back to Michigan. We will promptly contact a funeral professional at the place of death to ensure everything is taken care of to our standards. We will coordinate the initial transfer from the place of death, arrange for necessary embalming and coordinate all necessary transportation. Additional charges incurred may include transfer documents, out of town funeral professional and staff services, a transfer container and transportation charges. By notifying us directly, we can assist to streamline these costs and ensure all details are addressed.
If a death occurs locally to be transferred out of state, we can also assist you with all necessary local arrangements.
If the death occurs outside of the forty-eight contiguous states or your family has already engaged another funeral firm, we will apply all applicable credits to services provided by others when selecting one of our complete full-service funerals.
INTERNATIONAL TRAVEL
 If a family member dies while traveling outside the United States, contact the U.S. Embassy and they will come to your assistance. Then call us immediately. We are well-versed in the procedures for returning the deceased to the United States.
If a death occurs locally with final disposition to be done abroad, our competent and well-versed staff will assist you with the necessary details.
Our membership in the National Funeral Directors Association and other national organizations provides us with funeral service contacts worldwide.
