JAMES ROGER NASKI
August 24, 1952 ~ May 12, 2012
James R. Naski died in his sleep after a long illness on May 12, 2012. A man who loved life, he wanted to always be in control. His jokester and sarcastic mannerisms were his ways of showing love. And show love he did – even his children's friends loved him and wanted to be around him. He was always a parent, but he also wanted to be a best friend to his children and their friends.
Born in Detroit on August 24, 1952, Jim spent most of his life in the area. He was a great salesman and made everyone always feel welcome and comfortable with his amazing sense of life. He was a great cook, loved to fish, and avidly followed the Detroit Tigers and Red Wings. He spent most of his working career at Church's Lumber, but also worked at several other places including Contempo Counter Tops.
Unfortunately the last few years were not healthy ones for Jim. His son, Jim, donated a kidney to his father, but even that beautiful act of generosity was not enough to stave off the effects of the diseases that ravaged his body.
Jim is survived by his wife of 36 years, Theresa (nee: Easton); his children, Jennifer, James, II, and Kenneth. He is the son of Richard and the late Wanda Naski, and the brother of Robert, Ronald, Thomas and the late Richard and Cindy. He also leaves many loving nieces and nephews.
There will be a Memorial Mass on Friday, May 18, 2012 – 11 AM - at National Shrine of the Little Flower, Woodward Avenue and 12 Mile Road in Royal Oak. The celebrant will be his brother-in-law, Rev. Msgr. William Easton.
