Frank was a resident of Beverly Hills, formerly of St. Louis, Missouri.
Mr. Cleary graduated in 1948 from Southwest High School, St. Louis, MO, where he enjoyed football, tennis, and swimming. After high school, he attended Washington University in St. Louis. It was from Washington University that Mr. Cleary received both his B.S. and M.B.A.
He was a proud veteran serving in the U.S. Naval Reserves and during the Korean Conflict, was a Captain in the U.S. Air Force.
Mr. Cleary retired in 1994 as the senior safety administrator for General Motors, Research and Tech Center after 25 years. He was a former safety professional with Monsanto Chemical Company of St. Louis, MO. Mr. Cleary is currently an adjunct professor for Oakland University, a position that he undertook in 1983. At Oakland University, he taught undergraduate courses in occupational safety and fire protection and prevention.
Mr. Cleary was also a devoted scout leader and executive board member of the Detroit Area Council, B.S.A. He was an active member of Our Lady Queen of Martyrs Church, where he was involved with the ushers club and Boy Scout Troop 1029. A former member of the Knights of Columbus and the American Society of Safety Engineering. He was a member and past president of the American Society of Safety Engineers.
Mr. Cleary enjoyed spectator sports, especially the Detroit Red Wings.
Beloved husband of LaVerne M. (nee. Roland) for 56 years. Dear father of Carol A. Cleary, Stephen F. Cleary (Tammy) and Kathleen E. Blank (Ron). Grandfather of Ryan, Steven, David, Shawn, Chad and Shannon. Brother of Geraldine Schoen and Michael Cleary (Linda).
Family will receive friends at A.J. Desmond & Sons (Vasu, Rodgers & Connell Chapel), 32515 Woodward Ave. (btwn 13-14 Mile) Wednesday 2-8pm., prayer service 6:30pm.
Funeral Mass Thursday 11am at Our Lady Queen of Martyrs, 32340 Pierce, Beverly Hills. Visitation begins at church 10:30am.
