Bruce E. McDonald, age 72, died January 10, 2012. He was a longtime resident of Birmingham, MI.

Bruce was born December 3, 1939 in Sarasota, Florida to Franklyn and Lucille McDonald. The family relocated to the Detroit, MI area when Bruce was about two years old. They settled in Birmingham. Bruce attended Birmingham High School, and went on to attend Michigan State University. He enrolled in the Eli Broad College of Business, where he majored in marketing, and was a member of the Psi Upsilon Fraternity.

Bruce was the President and Founder of McDonald Modular Solutions, Inc. His company manufactured many types of mobile and modular products. He was recognized for his professional success by being inducted into the Modular Building Institute (MBI) Hall of Fame in 2006. Bruce also received the MBI Outstanding Achievement Award in 1994. Bruce was very active in his profession by serving many roles in the Michigan Manufactured Housing Association and the Modular Building Institute.

Bruce liked to remain busy outside of his professional life. He especially loved skiing, boating, and playing golf. His favorite place to ski was Aspen, Colorado, and he spent a lot of time on his boats in the Bahamas and Florida. He was a longtime member of both Oakland Hills Country Club and Grosse Pointe Yacht Club. He also enjoyed to travel, and even went around the world two separate times.

He is survived by his loving and long-time partner, Judy Cassady, and her three children, Kevin, Scott, and Erin.
Bruce was the caring father of Audrey, Stacey, and Brian; grandfather of Nathan, Ryan, Rachel, Treasa, and Mia; brother of Cynthia Taylor (Ted).

A Memorial Service will be on Saturday, January 14, 2012 - 10 a.m. at A.J. Desmond & Sons Funeral Home, 2600 Crooks Road, Troy, Michigan (between Maple and Big Beaver).

The Family will receive friends on Friday, January 13, 2012, from 2-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
