Born in Detroit to Alan and Rose Deneau, Jerry was a warm and caring husband, father, grandfather, brother and brother-in-law; and that warmth extended to his friends. The love he felt for his family was evident both in his words and his actions.
He attended Servite High School and later Monteith College at Wayne State University in Detroit. Jerry and his high school sweetheart, Georgi, celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary last year in France and Italy.
His daughters, Michelle and Kristin remember him as a gentle man who was always there with patience and ease to cheer them on or to pick them up; whatever they needed.
When Aaron, the first grandchild, came into his world, he beamed with pleasure. That pleasure was compounded when Elise arrived. He delighted in spending time with them, and they with him.
His passions for motorcycles and jazz were as strong as his passion for politics. As a local officer and as an international officer of the GCIU, a printing union, his
motivation for going to work was always to do what he could to ensure that members were treated fairly and with respect. When he became a member of the Executive Board of UNI, a world-wide labor organization, his mind wrapped around the much larger picture of the labor struggles around the globe.
He leaves behind family and friends who will miss him very much: his wife Georgi; daughters Michelle and Kristin; grandchildren Aaron and Elise; sister Phyllis (and brother-in-law Mitch); brother Alan; sister Lois; mother-in-law Jane; sister-in-law Sharie (and brother-in-law Chet); brother-in-law Dennis (and sister-in-law Donna); and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
Family will receive friends at A.J. Desmond & Sons (Vasu, Rodgers & Connell Chapel), 32515 Woodward (btwn 13-14 Mile), Saturday 11a.m. until memorial service at 12:00p.m.
