He enjoyed attending his grandchildren's school events and all the sports in which they were involved. He loved hockey, and relished his sons and grandsons involvement in the sport. He was quite a fixture at the Birmingham and Troy ice rinks. He was surrounded by his family when he died peacefully at home on March 15, 2014.

Joe was born on September 10, 1934 to James and Mary Hildebrand. He graduated from Catholic Central High School where he played football and basketball and went on to get a Bachelors degree in Business from the University of Detroit.

He started his career at Excello then went on to WCAR Radio, WJBK Radio, then on to Mutual Broadcasting where he concentrated on Notre Dame football. He continued his career at NBC Radio, where he attended the Olympics, and then finished his career in radio sales at ABC Radio.

He and Pat developed long-standing friendships with the people in the Magnolia subdivision in Southfield, MI and St. Michael's Parish where his buddy and golfing partner, Father Al was the pastor.

Most important to Joe was his family. He and Pat had four children, Joseph, Timothy, Patricia and Mary.
