Licensed Funeral Director/Embalmer
The full-time Funeral Director/Embalmer duties include:
- Assisting grieving families while showing continual care and concern
- Skillfully and compassionately taking death call information
- Coordinate and/or transport deceased persons to funeral home as directed
- Caring of deceased including embalming, restoring, dressing, cosmetology, casketing, cremated remains, and possible other requests
- Meeting with family members to prepare and coordinate services
- Contacting service personnel and outside vendors to coordinate merchandise and arrange facilities
- Remaining visible, available and attentive at all times during visitations and services
- Overseeing, directing and, as necessary, assisting any scheduled services
- Being knowledgeable of all programs and services offered
- Supporting and assisting co-workers to insure the highest quality, most professional, most ethical service
This person must:
- Have met education and license requirements for Licensed Funeral Director/Embalmer and possess a valid Michigan license with a minimum of two years of previous funeral director/embalmer experience preferred
- Have a Bachelors degree
- Be passionate about and committed to delivering outstanding service to the deceased and their families
- Have excellent verbal and written communications skills
- Be able to perform well in dynamic and sometimes stressful conditions
- Be familiar with a wide range of religious or cultural funeral services and customs
- Possess a valid Michigan driver’s license and an insurable driving record
- Be able to stand for extended periods of time
- Be able to exert up to forty pounds of force occasionally and/or up to fifteen pounds of force frequently in order to move or carry objects
- Be available to work some evenings and weekends and occasional holidays as scheduled

Licensed Embalmer
The full-time Embalmer duties include:
- Cares for deceased in a respectful manner while performing a variety of tasks which include: embalming, coordinating and completing removals and transfers as directed, verifying identification and embalming authorization; preparing to work using appropriate precautions and OSHA standards; performing restorations; dressing, applying cosmetics, casketing, and; any other preparation required for human remains
- Adheres to all applicable professional, municipal, state/provincial and federal licensing authority regulations
- Assists with maintenance and cleaning of preparation room and the facility
- Assists with chemical and supply inventory
- Receives caskets and other funeral home supplies
- Promotes a safe work environment by being aware of and practicing universal precautions and adopting general principles of safe conduct

- Be able to maintain prompt and regular attendance
- Be available to work a schedule that includes some evenings and weekends and occasional holidays

Part-time Funeral Service Associate
A part-time Funeral Service Associate handles the following duties:
- Answers phones
- Greets and directs visitors
- Assists grieving families
- Transports deceased to and from funeral homes as directed
- Prepares space for and attends to funeral services
- Receives and moves flower arrangements
- Supports and assists funeral directors to insure the highest quality, most professional, most ethical service
- Monitors parking lot activities; prepared to direct traffic
- Efficiently plans driving routes, drives and arrives at destinations as scheduled
A successful candidate must:
- Possess and display an understanding of the funeral profession
- Have adaptive/team player attitude
- Have professional self-presentation
- Be resourceful and able to multi-task
- Be able to stand for extended periods of time
- Be able to lift and move up to 50 pounds occasionally and up to 15 pounds of force frequently
- Have pleasant phone manner
- Have a high school diploma or equivalent and some professional experience
- Possess a valid driver’s license and have an insurable driving record
This is a part time position, typically scheduled about 10-15 hours weekly with a varying schedule consisting mostly of weekends and some weekday evenings. An applicant must have availability on weekends from 8:00am-9:00pm and some availability Monday thru Friday from 5:00pm-about 9:00pm.
